A flower blooms in the air, but its root is buried deep underground. This is the way of nature, visible and invisible, visible and hidden. Heidegger said: "The essence of works of art is the original way of truth.". The original meaning of the word "truth" in ancient Greek is to expose hidden things in light, and the essence of works of art is to imitate the hidden and visible way of nature. To convey the "original way of truth", how to "see" becomes very important, because how to see determines how to output the painting.
Cezanne said: "Painting is a way to understand the world visually.". "Vision" here is a purely intuitive way for the eyes to point to nature, and to understand the natural world in an intuitive and unbiased way. Intuitive "seeing" should first get rid of the previous inherent way of understanding, and put "knowledge" aside temporarily, so as to see more new things and experience more new experiences. This is "real" watching. This kind of view of painting is a process of correlation, judgment, elimination of disadvantages and appearance. In such a "look", we will find that the existence of every thing is inextricably linked with its surrounding environment. The existence of things and its environment are a holistic presentation, including the viewer.
For me, painting is a place where the subject and object conspire to reveal the truth. Like a key, it opens me in a sheltered state and lets the world and I open to each other. I appear in the world and return to the world. I and the world form a whole, all of which exist together, and it is a comprehensive presentation of the past, the present and the future. Therefore, painting is not only a function or form of painting as an image, but also a painting of life and truth, which is the support of emotion and spirit, as well as the purpose and significance of life.
In the past three years, my painting theme has mainly focused on flowers. This theme has not been expressed and interpreted in other ways such as symbolism or literariness. Instead, I have considered my relationship with flowers and the world from the perspective of the ontology of flowers, and thought about the truth I saw with a new and unfamiliar vision, As Wang Yangming said, "When you don't look at this flower, it will be quiet with you. When you look at this flower, it will be bright with you for a moment." This current way of looking at the world with my heart is what I want to express. It is a truly immersive way of looking. Usually, we only look at things simply, it is the overall impression of things, and it is the experience the world gives us. If we want to see the essence of things, it is not the impression of a glance, It is a holographic process of looking and thinking back to things themselves, and this process requires an organised mind to grasp how things exist through intuitive behaviour, and this "how to exist" is the context of spending in the world.
Everyone has his own unique perspective to see the world, and the rich and colourful art history also reflects the diversity of painters' viewing angles. Painters are looking for their own perspective to expand the boundaries of art, which is the direction of human will toward the eternal future. In my painting, space divides things, and things in different positions in the same space have their own boundaries and are related to each other. My perspective starts from the boundaries of things, and forms the change and overall presence between the boundaries of things through transcendental intuition. Like composing music, different rhythms, rhythms, changes, ups and downs, etc. are integrated into a unified order to form the beauty of chords. The theme of flowers is the manifestation of "the beauty of chords" in my painting, the change and unity of visual chords, and the world noumenon of eyes and hearts, the world and me from obscuration to manifestation.
